Message from Dr. Christine Chambers: Happy New Year and IHDCYH Institute Advisory Board Updates
Happy New Year to everyone in the IHDCYH community! As we begin 2026, we invite you to take a look back at our 2025 year-end highlights – a sample of key activities we are proud to have participated in alongside our community, including the publication of our 2025 Making a Difference Report.
With the start of 2026, we acknowledge the contributions of outgoing Institute Advisory Board (IAB) member Dr. Michael Rieder, who completed his term at the end of 2025. Dr. Rieder provided valuable expertise in pediatrics and pharmacology, along with a broad perspective on health research nationally and internationally. Thank you, Michael!
We are pleased to welcome new IAB member Stephanie Priest, who brings over 25 years of experience in health policy development in the federal government of Canada. As Director General of the Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing at the Public Health Agency of Canada, Stephanie and her team support programs to foster positive mental health and prevent mental illness by working with stakeholders across Canada, including programs focused on reducing health inequalities by promoting the mental health and well-being of children, youth and families. Welcome, Stephanie!
CIHR’s call for applications to all 13 Institute Advisory Boards is ongoing and applications received by April 24, 2026 will be considered in the 2026 cycle.
Wishing all members of the IHDCYH research community a year of exciting discoveries, meaningful collaborations, and continued impact in 2026!
Sincerely,
Christine
Dr. Christine Chambers,
Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health
