As a partner in this research funding competition, you will:
- Provide 1:1 matching funding to support high-quality, high-impact research that will make a difference in the lives of Canadians
- Support Canada’s rising stars in this important field of research
- Raise your organization’s profile by participating in joint announcements
Research funding details
- Grant recipients will receive up to $70,000 per year, for three years (2020–2023)
- CIHR will provide half of this funding, the partner(s) will provide the other half (up to $35,000 per year for three years)
- Partner(s) could be a charitable organization, philanthropic foundation, or industry partner, among others
Competition applicants
- Are within 60 months of their first independent academic appointment
- Are formally affiliated with an eligible institution
- Have not received operating grant funding of more than $500,000 as a principal investigator
Past recipients
Since this annual competition started in 2017, 59 early career investigators have been funded. Their research ranges from investigating infections in pregnancy to identifying resilience factors in First Nations children and youth.
