Message from Dr. Christine Chambers: National Day of the Child and 2025 Making a Difference Report
On November 20 we celebrate National Child Day, marking the 1989 adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and recognize fundamental rights and protections for all children. To celebrate this special day we are sharing our 2025 Making a Difference report, highlighting three key IHDCYH activities that align with our strategic priorities to convene, champion, and capacity build, as outlined in our Strategic plan, Better Beginnings, Vibrant Childhoods, and Empowered Youth: Research that Makes a Difference. I am pleased to highlight IHDCYH's Indigenous Path, which has already delivered investments of more than $26M to directly prioritize Indigenous-led research, our support for five new Implementation Science chairs to strengthen capacity for implementation science in Canada, and advances in incorporating youth perspectives in peer review committees across eight of our funding opportunities, with more to come.
The team at IHDCYH is proud to engage in these activities and priorities to advance science, promote knowledge and ways of knowing, and address the needs of children, youth and families in Canada and globally. In our featured research section below, we are sharing more recent examples of the outstanding work happening in human development, child and youth health research nationally.
Sincerely,
Christine
