Reviewer in Training program: Fall 2022 Participants

The Reviewer in Training (RiT) program offers Early Career Researchers (ECRs) a learning opportunity to gain a better understanding of the elements of high-quality review and the peer review process through direct participation in the Project Grant Program with the support of a Mentor. For more information on the RiT program and other capacity development programs, please visit the Reviewer Pathway.

Two hundred and thirty-nine (239) individuals submitted four hundred and seventy-eight (478) applications (first and second choice committees) to the Fall 2022 RiT Program. One hundred and fourteen (114) individuals were selected to participate across fifty-seven (57) peer review committees (2 participants per committee).

Application pressure by committee

Each applicant may select up to two Project Grant Program committees in which they prefer to participate and for which they have the appropriate expertise to review. The “Application Pressure” is the % of applicants to a committee that were selected to participate in that committee. Participants are chosen by random lottery, which is a fair and unbiased approach that balances the high demand for the program.

It is important to note that as grant application pressure rises in Project Grant Program committees, they may split in two or three, resulting in additional opportunities on these newly formed committees.
