At a Glance

The Mid-Career Lecturer Award (MLA) Series honours outstanding investigators from the CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health (CIHR-ICRH) mandate areas within any of the four CIHR themes.

The selected candidate will be an outstanding mid-career investigator (at the time of application, has assumed his/her independent research position 5-15 years ago) who has conducted the majority of his/her research in Canada and has contributed significantly to the advancement their field. In addition to showing strength and reputation in their field in Canada and worldwide, award recipients have demonstrated impact on the development of young scientists and highly qualified personnel through mentorship and training. The individual may have conducted their work within any of the four CIHR research theme areas: biomedical; clinical; health systems and services; and social, cultural, environmental and population health.

In collaboration with our partners, this award provides a $5,000 honorarium and coverage of all expenses (e.g., travel, accommodations, registration fee, etc.) to attend a national Canadian conference to deliver a keynote lecture on a research topic relevant to a broad research audience.
