Spring 2022 Project Grant competition deadlines extended
In light of the disruptions caused by the Omicron variant of COVID-19, CIHR is extending the registration and application deadlines for the Spring 2022 Project Grant competition. This extension will be applied automatically; applicants will not need to request it.
The new dates are:
- Registration deadline: February 16, 2022
- Application deadline: March 16, 2022
We understand that some may wish for more time, but we have chosen a one-week extension because it allows us to balance the impact of the shifting timeline on applicants, reviewers, institutions, and CIHR staff. Extending timelines for our Spring competition any further would significantly disrupt peer review meetings and make it difficult to keep our promise to the research community to run two non-overlapping Project competitions per year.
With these new dates, we will condense peer review committee meetings into four weeks instead of five, prevent committee meetings from running into the summer holidays, and maintain our original dates for publishing Notices of Recommendation (June 30, 2022) and Notices of Decision (July 14, 2022).
We will work with peer review committee members to reschedule affected committee meetings.
CIHR will continue to offer additional extensions on a case-by-case basis with sufficient justification, as we understand that some applicants may need more time. To request an extension beyond the revised dates, please reach out to the CIHR Contact Centre at support-soutien@cihr-irsc.gc.ca.
