Celebrating Canadian health research: Spring 2025 Project Grant competition results released
Message from the President
Dear colleagues,
CIHR is proud to announce the results of the Spring 2025 Project Grant competition — our flagship funding program that supports the bold ideas and innovative work of Canada's health researchers.
This competition represents a total investment of $411 million, supporting 444 full and bridge grants and funding the important work of 428 lead investigators across the country. These projects span disciplines and regions, united by a shared goal: improving the health, prosperity and well-being of all people in Canada. I invite you to learn more about the breadth of projects funded at the link to the competition results above.
A remarkable outcome of this competition is that more than 90% of the applications reviewed (2,595/2,814) were deemed fundable — a clear reflection of the strength of the research community and the ongoing demand for investments in health research to keep pace with the exceptional ideas being generated.
This competition would not be possible without the dedication and generosity of the many individuals who contributed to its success. I extend my sincere thanks to the 1,900 peer reviewers and 192 committee Chairs and scientific officers who lent their time, expertise and care to ensuring a rigorous and fair review process.
Behind every grant is a team of researchers and trainees driven by curiosity, compassion and the desire to make life better. Through these investments, CIHR continues to play a critical role in building a healthier, more prosperous future for everyone in Canada.
Sincerely,
Paul C. Hébert, MD, MHSc, FRCPC, FCAHS
