Service standards for CIHR transfer payment programs

The following service standards apply to all transfer payment programs (grants and awards funding opportunities) administered by CIHR.

Acknowledgement of receipt of applications submitted via ResearchNet

Nominated Principal Applicants (NPAs) will receive an acknowledgement email via ResearchNet immediately upon the electronic submission of the application to CIHR. CIHR aims to meet this standard 100% of the time.

First payment

To eligible administering institutions

For grant and salary award programs – The first payment will be sent to eligible administering institutions within 30 business days of the issue date on the Authorization for Funding (AFF) document. CIHR aims to meet this standard 85% of the time.

For training award programs – The first payment will be sent to eligible administering institutions within 15 business days of the issue date on the Authorization for Funding (AFF) document. CIHR aims to meet this standard 85% of the time.

To direct payment recipients

For grant and salary award programs – The first payment will be sent directly to the grantee/awardee within 30 business days of the issue date on the Authorization For Funding (AFF) document. CIHR aims to meet this standard 85% of the time.

For training award programs – The first payment will be issued directly to the awardee within 15 business days of the issue date on the Authorization for Funding (AFF) document. CIHR aims to meet this standard 85% of the time.
