Focused on climate change action, the report includes priorities to establish public health as a key collaborator, convenor, and leader in the climate change landscape. Along with the release of "Generating Knowledge to Guide Public Health Action on Climate Change in Canada," a companion document that outlines research opportunities, was released to help guide the generation of evidence in this crucial area.

CPHO 2022 Funding Opportunity

The CIHR Institutes of Population and Public Health, Gender and Health, Indigenous Peoples' Health and Infection and Immunity, along with the CIHR Centre for Research on Pandemic Preparedness and Health Emergencies, will be launching a funding opportunity to catalyze research aligned with the climate change priorities identified in the 2022 CPHO Annual Report and companion document, "Generating Knowledge to Guide Public Health Action on Climate Change in Canada".

The anticipated amount available for this funding opportunity is $1,625,000, enough to fund approximately thirteen (13) grants. The maximum amount per grant is $125,000 per year for one year and a portion of funding will be reserved for Early Career Researchers.

Generating evidence on real-world interventions in real-time involves myriad disciplinary perspectives and can benefit from a range of research designs, theories, and methodological approaches. Interdisciplinary studies, Indigenous methodologies, and studies that apply novel approaches emanating from different disciplinary traditions are welcome.

The funding opportunity is expected to launch Fall 2022.
