2026 CIHR-IHSPR/CAHSPR Student Poster Competition Prize Winners

First prize: Mariève Dupont from Université de Sherbrooke for the poster Developing a Multidisciplinary Framework to Advance Integrated Primary Care and Policy Learning

Mariève Dupont is a doctoral researcher at the Université de Sherbrooke in Québec specializing in health policy analysis and primary care integration. Her project, Achieving High‑Quality Primary Care Reforms: A Case Study on Policy Integration in Québec, investigates how increasing policy synergies and coherence across intersectoral policies, and better coordinating collective action, can advance integrated primary care goals. Ultimately, her work aims to enhance the quality and impact of public health services, strengthen equity, and improve population health.

Second prize: Julie Vizza from Ontario Tech University for the poster Supporting Safer Medication Management for Older Adults with Multimorbidity: A Scoping Review of Primary Care Initiatives

Julie Vizza is a PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. Her research focuses on medication management among older adults living with multimorbidity, with a particular interest in primary care, polypharmacy, and how individuals experience and navigate medication use in everyday life. Her poster, Supporting Safer Medication Management for Older Adults with Multimorbidity: A Scoping Review of Primary Care Initiatives, received second prize in the 2026 CIHR-IHSPR/CAHSPR Student Poster Competition.

Third prize: Ria Garg from the University of Toronto for the poster Impact of the minor ailment service program on healthcare interactions for urinary tract infections between 2021 to 2025 in Ontario, Canada

Ria Garg is a PhD candidate at Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto. In addition to her doctoral work, she serves as a clinical pharmacist at CAMH. Ria's research integrates her clinical expertise with advanced pharmacoepidemiology study design to optimize medication use and healthcare service delivery. Her recent collaborations include working with META:PHI to evaluate new methadone prescribing regimens and the Ontario College of Pharmacists to inform the restructuring of pharmacy services.
