IHSPR-CAHSPR Article of the Year Award Recipients 2026
The CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research (CIHR-IHSPR) and Canadian Association for Health Services and Policy Research (CAHSPR) are pleased to announce that Dr. Daisy Singla has received the 2026 IHSPR-CAHSPR Article of the Year (AOTY) Award for her article:

Dr. Daisy Singla, PhD
Dr. Daisy Singla is a WomenMind Senior Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, and holds the Canada Research Chair in Transformative Mental Healthcare. Dr. Singla has pioneered research on scalable, effective, and patient-centered psychotherapies and collaborated with global leaders and local NGOs in rural Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Nepal, and India. She now brings these lessons to health systems in Canada and the United States. In 2018, she became the youngest recipient of a $13.1M USD Pragmatic Clinical Study Award from the Patient Centered Outcome Research Institute to lead the Scaling Up Maternal Mental health by Increasing access to Treatment (SUMMIT) Trial for pregnant and postpartum populations. Dr. Singla has received numerous awards recognizing her leadership and innovation, including from the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Psychotherapy Research. In sum, Dr. Singla aspires to increase access to evidence-based mental healthcare to enrich the lives of women, children and families in Canada and worldwide.
This award reflects the collective contributions of the SUMMIT Team, whose interdisciplinary scientific, clinical, and lived-experience expertise have been central to its success.
In their winning article, Dr. Singla and team provide compelling evidence that psychotherapy for perinatal depression and anxiety can be effectively delivered through telemedicine and by non-specialist providers. Their findings highlight practical, scalable approaches to expanding access to mental health care for pregnant and postpartum individuals, particularly in settings where specialist services may be limited.
