Additional funding available for the HIV/AIDS and STBBI Community-Based Research Catalyst Grant

The Institute of Gender and Health (IGH) has partnered with the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative, Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) and Institute of Indigenous Peoples' Health (IIPH) on the HIV/AIDS and STBBI Community-Based Research Catalyst Grant.

Additional funds will be available for grants that focus on supporting the development and/or implementation of new or existing community-based interventions that address intersecting factors of sexual orientation, gender, Indigeneity, race/ethnicity, racism, and/or additional social identities and/or processes that may impact risk factors and deterrents for acquiring HIV and/or other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI).

The total amount available for this funding opportunity is $1.1M, enough to fund approximately 11 grants. The maximum amount per grant is $100K per year for up to one year.

Of this $1.1M:

  • General Pool: $300K is available to fund applications relevant to the General Stream.
  • Indigenous Pool: $300K is available to fund applications relevant to the Indigenous Stream.
  • $500K is available to fund applications in either the General or the Indigenous stream that are also relevant to the IGH mandate.
