4th Pathways Annual Gathering

Co-hosted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba (FNHSSM) Nanaandawewigamig PEKE in partnership with the Alberta First Nations Information Governance Centre, the 4th Pathways Annual Gathering took place on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot and the people of Treaty Seven under the theme: “Land-based learning and healing”.

This gathering brought together key participants, including community members, researchers, CIHR partners, National Indigenous Organizations (NIOs), and CIHR staff involved in the Pathways to Health Equity for Aboriginal Peoples’ initiative (Pathways), to encourage respect for and inclusion of Indigenous Ways of Knowing in the work of the Pathways funded projects and to support networking and community building.

Objectives

The objectives of the 2018 Pathways Annual Gathering were:

  1. Provide a shared understanding of the Pathways Initiative and to encourage respect for and inclusion of Indigenous ways of knowing in the work of the funded projects and participating partners
  2. Facilitate partnership development and relationship building between new and existing partners in the Pathways Initiative and Pathways Implementation Research Teams
  3. Enable cross-learning, knowledge exchange and mentorship among those engaged across Pathways funding opportunities
  4. Support networking and community building among researchers, community members, partners, and other stakeholders engaged with the Pathways Initiative
