World Cancer Research Day 2026
Message from the Scientific Director, Dr. Fei-Fei Liu
September 24th marks the 10th anniversary of global advocacy for cancer research through World Cancer Research Day. Each year, World Cancer Research Day celebrates progress made and milestones achieved across the spectrum of cancer research.
This year, World Cancer Research Day is celebrating "Advancing Cancer Research Together". This theme resonates strongly with the cancer research landscape here in Canada. Our Institute of Cancer Research brings together over 4700 partners across our communities of researchers, health professionals, people with lived or living experience of cancer, government agencies, charities, industries and many other cancer research funders. This alliance is critical to developing funding programs and capacity building activities that support the world-class research being conducted here in Canada that has impact, both at home and across the world.
On this World Cancer Research Day, I would like to thank everyone who contributes to and supports cancer research across Canada. Together, we are advancing cancer research that will reduce the burden of this disease for future generations, thereby improving the lives of cancer patients and survivors.
