Banting Fellows and Vanier Scholars to attend the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

Two outstanding NSERC-supported researchers will be among 600 young scientists from around the world to spend a week with 70 Nobel Laureates at the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in Germany from June 28 to July 3, 2026. Participants will be able to exchange ideas, discuss projects, and build international networks around this year’s interdisciplinary theme, which brings together the Nobel disciplines. For young scientists at the beginning of their careers, it is a valuable opportunity to meet these inspiring role models and mentors, to seek their advice, to exchange thoughts and views, and to discuss current developments in science and beyond.

We congratulate the two recipients nominated by NSERC who were accepted by the Lindau scientific review panel to attend this prestigious event: Coral Hillel (Vanier Canada Graduate Scholar) and Seth McCarthy (Banting Postdoctoral Researcher).

“I am deeply honoured to participate in the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. I cannot think of a better place to discuss the past, present, and future of scientific disciplines with giants in the field, as well as the next generation. I look forward to exciting research discussions and diverse perspectives at this most prestigious meeting, so that I may grow as a young scientist and generate scientific impact here in Canada and beyond.”

Coral Hillel

Coral describes her research as follows: “My research explores the mechanisms behind how molecular photoswitches transform their shape and properties, and uses this fundamental knowledge to design better light-responsive materials.”

Seth McCarthy

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to attend the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and meet scientists from around the world and at all stages of their careers. I look forward to learning from and exchanging ideas with researchers whose work has shaped the world we live in, while gaining insight from their diverse perspectives and experiences.”

Seth McCarthy

Seth describes his research as follows: “My research explores how different exercise interventions and strategies can be used to improve cardiorespiratory fitness and cardiometabolic health in clinical populations.”
