Resuming strategic funding opportunities
In the spring, we announced that we would be temporarily pausing most of our strategic funding opportunities (FOs) so that we could redeploy our resources to deliver a rapid research response to COVID-19 and ensure the delivery of the Project Grant competition.
We know that many researchers look to our strategic funding competitions for support, and that this disruption has affected your work. We are pleased to report that we are now ready to start resuming our strategic competitions.
Our first order of business is to resume the 12 competitions that had already been launched and were put on hold when the pandemic struck. We will be emailing applicants who opened an application in the system directly to provide them with key details.
Over the next year, new opportunities will be brought online in a staggered fashion with a goal of no more than four FO launches and no more than four application deadlines in any given week.
As noted previously, competition timelines will be confirmed and updated in ResearchNet, and applicants will be provided with at least two months’ advance notice to allow them to prepare their applications. Applicants will be able to:
- work on a previously started application(s);
- review and edit their previously submitted application(s) prior to resubmitting;
- withdraw their previously submitted application(s); and
- start a new application(s).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the CIHR Contact Centre at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1-888-603-4178.
Thank you for your patience while we work to address the impacts of COVID-19 on our operations.
