Statement from Thérèse Roy
As CIHR COI Officer, I am delegated by the President to be the responsible authority for COI matters, and as such, to interpret, implement and ensure compliance with the CIHR Policy on Conflict of Interest Prevention and Management for Scientific Directors, Members of Governing Council and Advisory Bodies. With the policy, procedures, awareness-raising and educational tools that are being put in place, CIHR promotes a culture of high ethical standards, openness and collaboration in identifying and resolving conflicts of interest. I am confident that by preventing and effectively managing COI situations, we are able to uphold public confidence in the impartiality and integrity of CIHR’s decision-making, thereby protecting the reputation of CIHR and of CIHR members.
When in doubt about the existence of COI in your situation, it is always best to declare and discuss it!
