Biography

Dr. William Pastor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at McGill University and is an associate member of the Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Institute. He earned his Ph.D. in the lab of Dr. Anjana Rao at Harvard University, where he invented a technique to map the epigenetic modification 5-hydroxymethylcytosine in embryonic stem cells. He did his postdoctoral training in the labs of Dr. Steven Jacobsen and Dr. Amander Clark at UCLA, where he helped characterize different types of human embryonic stem cells and studied how their epigenomes are regulated.

In January 2018, Dr. Pastor started his lab at McGill University. His lab uses embryonic and trophoblast (placental) stem cells to study gene regulation during early embryonic development.
