Transition Period for the CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health
Message from Dr. Shoo K. Lee

February, 2019

With the start of 2019, we entered the last year of my second term as Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (CIHR-IHDCYH).

I will complete my term on December 31, 2019 and my team at Sinai Health System has already begun the transition process. We continue to work with CIHR staff and our partners to deliver on the priorities outlined in our refreshed strategic plan, Healthy Foundations of Life: CIHR-IHDCYH Refreshed Strategic Plan 2018–2020. At the same time we will work together to ensure a smooth and orderly transition to the next Scientific Director.

CIHR recently launched the process to recruit my successor with the posting of the job opportunity. The deadline for applications is March 6, 2019. I encourage you to share the posting within your professional networks.

In addition, a review of the Institute is currently being carried out as part of the transition. You may be approached to contribute to the review, in which case I encourage you to share your experiences.

I am honoured to have served as Scientific Director of CIHR-IHDCYH for almost 8 years. It has been a pleasure for me and my team to collaborate with our community to support research and capacity building in maternal, reproductive, child and youth health. I am confident that our efforts will make a long-term contribution to improving the health of families in Canada.

If you have any questions related to the transition of the Institute, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dr. Shoo K. Lee
