Message from the President: Institute of Infection and Immunity Scientific Director term renewal

It is with great pleasure that I, along with the CIHR Governing Council, announce the renewal of the term of Dr. Marc Ouellette as Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III), from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017.

Since 2010, Dr. Ouellette’s leadership and commitment has bolstered research excellence and its impact in the area of infection and immunity. Thanks to his tireless work, the Institute has been transformative in a number of areas such as training and capacity building, the integration of infection and immunity knowledge in policy decision processes, and the development of rapid response research to emerging infection and immunity challenges such as antibiotic resistance. Dr. Ouellette’s vision and determination has also helped CIHR-III develop strong support for infection control research. Most recently, he and his team put Canada at the forefront by co-leading the development of the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance.

For the past five years, Canadians have benefited enormously from Dr. Ouellette’s energy and leadership in infection and immunity research. Please join me in congratulating him on his renewal.
